Barcelona back on Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup calendar – good memories for BWT Lechner Racing

After quite a long break since 2020, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup comes back to Spain and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, as it is officially named nowadays. It always used to be a very successful stage for Lechner Racing, with three times Supercup champion Michael Ammermüller winning four times here between 2015 and 2018, Julian Andlauer climbing on the top step of the podium in 2019 and Jaxon Evans and Dylan Pereira claiming P2 and P3 in the last edition in 2020 for BWT Lechner Racing.

This year, the team comes to the 4.657 km long track with a lot of positive vibes after the victory of Robert de Haan in Monaco last weekend, where the Dutchman dominated the weekend and was absolutely unbeatable. Marvin Klein, so unlucky during the first two races of the season, knows the circuit very well due to his many starts in the French Porsche Carrera Cup here, and will do everything to score his first big points of the year.

Also the pre-season tests at the circuit brought quite promising results for BWT Lechner Racing and a lot of data to rely on for the weekend to be able to fight for the top positions again. While it will be the first race with the generation Porsche 992.1 there, this should not cause any trouble due to the long time experience of the team with this car by now and the two test days.

BWT Lechner Racing Team Principle Robert Lechner: “Robert de Haan had a fantastic weekend in Monaco, first in free practice, first in qualifying, rather unchallenged race winner. Hopefully he can carry over this positive momentum now and start in Barcelona where we finished in Monte Carlo,  achieving a similar performance. With Marvin Klein's car we had about the same amount of work to do as we had with Robert's after Imola, but again the team showed how strong we are in working together to achieve our goals. Thank you to everybody – I am really proud of you! Marvin was always very fast in the first two events, even if he was not able to finish one lap in a race, also during testing in Barcelona. He is very familiar with the circuit, has a lot of experience, already did a race here this year. I just wish him better luck this time, so that he can have a similar comeback like Robert had in Monaco. Motivation is very high  – we are ready for Barcelona, the last weekend of the challenging triple header!”

Robert de Haan: “The win last weekend felt great – especially as we were really fast all the time. So I think we can aim for another one now in Barcelona, we are definitely ready and well prepared for the final part of the triple header.”

Marvin Klein: “The focus is completely on Barcelona now.  It will be important to have a strong weekend there. The official test before the start of the season was good, so I’m confident. We just need to do what we know to do.”
