Back-to-Back from Monaco to Catalunya: BWT Lechner Racing Heads to Barcelona

After a solid start to the 2026 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season on the streets of Monaco, BWT Lechner Racing is heading to Barcelona for Round 2 of the championship. The 4.657 km long Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya features 14 corners and a very different challenge compared to the season opener.

Following the tight and unforgiving streets of Monte Carlo, Barcelona presents a completely different set of demands. Longer straights and higher speeds require a different approach in terms of car setup and race strategy. Finding the right balance between qualifying performance and race pace will be crucial on one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar.

BWT Lechner Racing arrives in Spain with positive momentum. The team has enjoyed considerable success at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, claiming two podium spots last season.

The race weekend begins with Free Practice on Friday, followed by Qualifying on Saturday and the second race of the 2026 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season on Sunday.

After securing a hard-fought fourth-place finish in Monaco, Robert de Haan arrives in Barcelona looking to continue his strong start to the season. The circuit holds good memories for de Haan, who finished second there last year.

Porsche Junior Marcus Amand and Australian rookie Caleb Sumich also head to Spain with confidence after respective performances in Monaco. Both showed promising pace within the competitive driver field of this one make series and will be aiming to take the next step in Barcelona. With positive momentum from Monaco and a strong track record at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, BWT Lechner Racing is looking forward to the challenges of Round 2 and another competitive weekend.

"After Monte Carlo is before Barcelona and what sounds like a nice holiday or sightseeing tour in realty is hard work and tough racing business for all team members at BWT Lechner Racing. The Circuit de Catalunya is very challenging and fast track where overtaking is possible. However the focus clearly needs to be on the best possible qualifying positions for all three drivers and cars!"
Robert Lechner, Team Principal
