Round 3 of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2025 finally saw both BWT Lechner Racing drivers on the podium. At a very hot day with 30 degrees air and more than 40 degrees track temperature at the 4.657 km long Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Robert de Haan and Marvin Klein finished in P2 and P3, scoring very important championship points for the team, catching up significantly in both the team and drivers´ classification after the partly very unlucky start into the season during the first two events.
De Haan and Klein started from P3 and P5 respectively, after one competitor had been disqualified from qualifying due to a technical infringement. Both had a good getaway and already during the first corners managed to advance to P2 and P3.
As it became clear during the race that an attack on the leader was not really possible at the not very overtaking-friendly circuit, settling in at these positions and bringing home the first double podium of the season for the Austrian squad was the order of the day and was perfectly executed.
Robert Lechner, BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal: “Of course I am very happy with this result with both cars in the Top 3, especially for Marvin, who finally was able to finish his first race for us immediately with a podium. Now we can relax a little bit after the triple header, but very soon we will continue our hard work and our test program to be as well prepared as possible for our home race in Austria in four weeks time..”
Robert de Haan: “I am really, really happy with this result, also for the whole team. It is great that we had both cars on the podium and are nearly completely back in the championship race!”
Marvin Klein: “Finally! It was a super race, I already gained a position at the start and then kept my place until the end. I am super happy for the team, our first points together, the season is starting now!”
Michael Schöch, BWT Lechner Racing Team Manager: “It was very important for the whole team to come out of this weekend with two podium finishes and especially two undamaged cars. We were very far behind in both championships after the first two events, now we made a real step forward and that's what we needed to be able to be really competitive for the rest of the season. Everybody was under a lot of pressure, but we did it – we are back in the mix again. So it's a very good feeling to go into this kind of short break now with this achievement, to give all the mechanics a short time to breath. Even if there is still a lot of left over work to be done after the damages in the first two races to be able to conduct our test program in the next two weeks - and come technically fully prepared and with newly loaded batteries to our home race at the Red Bull Ring.”
