BWT Lechner Racing: Youngest driver line-up ready for Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2024

Formula 1 is finally coming to Europe – and of course the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is immediately joining in at the classical 4.909 km long Autodromo Dino and Enzo Ferrari at Imola/Italy, a favorite place for the Italian tifosi.

For BWT Lechner Racing it is the 22nd season in this series. Since 2003, Lechner Racing has won 13 team and 10 driver titles, becoming the most successful team in the championship. In 2024, the seventh year of the great partnership with BWT, the team again is going to enter three cars in the Supercup: Car Nr. 1 will be driven by Harry King. The 23-year-old from England, winner of the British Porsche Carrera Cup in 2020 and of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux in 2022, is going into his third full season with the team.

The other two entries are two very young and promising rookies, bringing the average age of the BWT Lechner Racing drivers 2024 down to 19.66 years. Car Nr. 2 is in the hands of only 17-year-old Robert de Haan from the Netherlands, Kart World Champion in 2018, Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux winner in 2023 and race winner in the recent Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East. Car Nr. 3 is driven by Theo Oeverhaus. The 19-year-old from Germany is the reigning Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East champion and also the winner of the 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup Germany Rookie championship.

BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal Robert Lechner:
“I am looking forward to the start of the season, and I am also expecting it to get emotional due to the black Imola weekend 30 years ago. We will think especially intensive about Roland Ratzenberger this weekend, who started his career with Lechner Racing, from mechanic to technician to instructor to racing driver, but of course also about Ayrton Senna, the unforgettable racing legend. Nevertheless the focus is on the start of the new season. I am very proud of everyone in the team around our well-experienced Team Manager Michael Schöch and our youngest driver line-up ever. Lechner Racing has a long history of successfully working with young drivers, further developing their talent. After some intensive preparation we feel ready for the season and to go racing together!”

Harry King: “I am delighted to continue my partnership with BWT Lechner Racing heading into the 2024 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Of course it seems like a logical decision considering the form and the dominance we had in previous seasons, so it fills me with a lot of confidence and excitement starting into 2024 from a clean sheet. The pre-season testing has been positive, I feel very good and of course it´s a team familiar to me, so all the ground work and all the foundations are in place for what should be a strong season.”

Robert de Haan: “I am really looking forward to the season, as now this weekend it will finally start, and working with the best team on the grid, BWT Lechner Racing. I think we are well prepared due to our work in the off-season and can´t wait to get a lot of points in the bag. I am sure we can do a good job – let´s see...”

Theo Oeverhaus: “I am really looking forward to my first Supercup race together with BWT Lechner Racing. I can hardly wait to get out on track and work with the team to learn a lot from their huge experience.”
