A year of anniversaries around the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2025 for BWT Lechner Racing
Formula 1 is finally coming to Europe – and that means: The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is back as well! The classic 4.909 km long Autodromo Dino and Enzo Ferrari at Imola/Italy, a favorite place for the Italian tifosi, will see the first of eight races of the season, starting a triple header with Monaco and Barcelona to follow shortly after.
For BWT Lechner Racing it is a very special season, as the team is celebrating not only the 50th anniversary of Lechner Racing this year, but also 20 years since our first Porsche Supercup titles: In 2005 it was Italian Alessandro Zampedri who won the first driver´s title for the team, which also claimed its first team title in the history of the company.
Of course starting the season in Italy now, everybody thinks back about this milestone, looking forward to the challenges ahead at the same time. The team is going to enter two cars in the Supercup – with two very talented and successful drivers who will give everything to fight for podiums, wins and hopefully as well for the championship.
18-year old Robert de Haan from the Netherlands, Kart World Champion in 2018, Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux winner in 2023 and Porsche Supercup Rookie Champion in 2024 stays with the team for the second season. Having gained a lot of experience in his first complete Supercup season last year, he is now looking forward to aim for higher goals together with the Austrian squad.
Frenchman Marvin Klein, who joins BWT Lechner Racing for 2025, is a long-time Porsche driver, winner of the French Porsche Carrera Cup in 2021 and 2022 and third in the Porsche Supercup 2024. The 25-year-old from the south of France brings additional experience and maturity to the team.
BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal Robert Lechner: “I am looking forward to the start of the season, which is a very special one for us due to the different anniversaries this year. We will be celebrating 50 years of Lechner Racing over the whole year, and also the 20th anniversary of our first Supercup titles means a lot to us. I am really happy to go into the 2025 season with two very strong drivers, Robert de Haan and Marvin Klein, two absolute professionals who have everything you need in motor racing. But we all know that the Porsche Supercup is very competitive, so we have to give everything to be successful again. We are extremely motivated from the very beginning – the month of May with three races in a row will be already ever so important!”
Robert de Haan: “I am definitely looking forward to Imola, I had a great start into the season there in the German Porsche Carrera Cup a few weeks ago. Hopefully we can carry the momentum over to the Supercup Imola round. I am very happy to be back in the pink car with BWT Lechner Racing and because it is our 50th anniversary season, we will try especially hard to get the maximum out of it and to aim for the highest spot on the podium.”
Marvin Klein: “The wait has been really long, so I’m super excited to start the season at Imola. It is always nice to drive on this special Italian circuit, this track is one of my favorites. So I am more than motivated to wear and put our Windhager and Lechner Racing colors to the top. I am really looking forward to my first Supercup race together with BWT Lechner Racing. I can hardly wait to get out on track and work with the team to learn a lot from their huge experience.”
