1,2,3 for BWT Lechner Racing – first Pole Position for Bastian Buus

What a great qualifying day for BWT Lechner  Racing at the Circuit Paul Ricard: Under a blue sky and with temperatures of nearly 30 degrees Celsius, Bastian Buus secured his first Pole Position ever in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Behind him, his teammates Harry King and Dylan Pereira will line up second and third on the grid for Sunday´s race – the best BWT Lechner Racing qualifying result ever.

It was a rather chaotic session with two Red Flag interruptions due to debris on track, but Danish Youngster Buus always stayed cool and set fastest times on both sets of tyres. “I always knew that I had it in me, I already showed quite a few times in the races that I can be really fast. I just had to  get my act together in qualifying – and today it worked out perfectly. Of course I am absolutely over the moon, so now I hope for the first win to come tomorrow as well.”

Harry King also did a great job, having to put in his one and only fast lap in the very last seconds of the session. The Brit was one of the victims of the debris other drivers put on track when he caught an advertising banner with his car. Due to this contact he later lost the front lip of his car, which forced him into a quick pitstop for repairs. “Thanks to the BWT Lechner Racing mechanics who did an impressive job to get me out again in time – I am really glad I could thank them with a front row grid position.”

Championship leader Dylan Pereira from Luxembourg was not completely content with his last lap,  “as it was not perfect. But P3 is a great round-up to the team result and I am still starting ahead of my main title rivals, which is important.”

BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal and CEO Robert Lechner naturally was more than happy:   “After our great weekend in Austria we continued on a very high level here from the beginning. We were already very strong yesterday in Free Practice and today´s result is a dream come true. I am very proud of my drivers and the whole team, which worked perfectly again. It´s a great position to be in and I can´t wait to see the three pink cars line up at the front of the grid. But nevertheless we still have to keep our feet on the ground. It is only Saturday and the race tomorrow is what really counts.”
