Bwt Lechner Racing Ready for 2026 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Season Opener in Monaco
The wait is over. This coming weekend, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup kicks off its 2026 season at the most iconic venue in motorsport: the Circuit de Monaco.
BWT Lechner Racing enters its 24th season in the prestigious one-make championship with the same ambition that has defined the team for more than two decades. As the most successful team in Porsche Supercup history, the Austrian squad returns to a three-car line-up for the first time since 2024.
The 2026 season also marks the competitive debut of the new Porsche 911 Cup (992.2) in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Carrying the prestigious car numbers 1, 2 and 3, BWT Lechner Racing underlines its determination to compete at the very front from the opening round onwards.
Robert Lechner: "We are excited to start another Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season and to do so in Monaco makes it even more special. We have assembled a very strong driver line-up, and with the new Porsche 911 Cup entering its first Supercup season, everyone starts from a similar position. We have an experienced team and our goal is clear: we want to fight for victories and championships right from the opening round."
Returning for his third season with BWT Lechner Racing is Dutch driver and vice champion Robert de Haan, who has a special connection to the streets of Monte Carlo. In 2025, the young talent claimed his maiden Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup victory at the legendary street circuit and now returns aiming to build on that success.
Robert de Haan: "Monaco will always be a special place for me. Winning my first Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race here last year was an unforgettable moment, and I'm looking forward to coming back with BWT Lechner Racing. We have worked hard over the winter, and I feel ready to build on what we achieved in 2025. Starting the season in Monaco is a huge challenge, but it's also one of the highlights of the year."
New to the team is Marcus Amand, Porsche Junior for the 2026 season. The 20-year-old Finnish-French driver enters his rookie Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup campaign as the reigning Porsche Carrera Cup France Champion. Widely regarded as one of the most promising young talents in Porsche's global driver development programme, Amand is set to make his debut on motorsport's biggest stages:
Marcus Amand: "Joining BWT Lechner Racing and making my Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup debut is a fantastic opportunity. Monaco is one of the most iconic circuits in the world, and to start my rookie season here makes it even more exciting. There is a lot to learn, but I feel well prepared and motivated to make the most of this challenge together with the team."
Completing the 2026 BWT Lechner Racing line-up is Caleb Sumich, one of the most exciting emerging talents in international Porsche racing. The Australian has already gained valuable experience on the global stage through his campaigns in the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East, where he was the championship runner-up. Monaco marks another major milestone in what is shaping up to be a highly promising career.
Caleb Sumich: "Competing in Monaco is something every young racing driver dreams about. Coming all the way from Australia, it's hard to put into words how excited I am to race on such a legendary circuit. I can't wait to experience the unique atmosphere of Monte Carlo and to start my Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup journey with a team like BWT Lechner Racing. The level of competition will be extremely high, but I'm focused on learning as much as possible and delivering a strong performance throughout the season."
Having claimed eight Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup victories in Monaco, BWT Lechner Racing arrives at the season opener with a proven record of success at motorsport's most prestigious street circuit.
