BWT Lechner Racing at Monaco - Annual Highlight of the PMSC

It is always a huge highlight of the season for the motor racing world, and it is not different at all for the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in 2022: The race at the Monaco Formula 1 weekend is very special for all the Supercup teams and drivers and of course BWT Lechner Racing is no exception. The famous and extremely challenging street circuit of Monte Carlo requires perfect focus of the drivers for every second over each lap at the tight 3.337 km track between walls and armcos, the slightest mistake proving most likely to be very costly.

BWT Lechner Racing Team Manager Michael Schöch will never forget “the Supercup race of 2017, when in my second year at the helm of Lechner Racing we were able to celebrate a sweep – Michael Ammermüller won the race ahead of Dan Cammish and Dennis Olsen. And in 2019 Ammermüller was able to repeat his victory. But how harsh Monaco can be we had to experience last year when each of our three BWT drivers made contact with the unforgiving walls at some point. So in the casino of Monte Carlo you also need a fair bit of luck to succeed.”

For BWT Lechner Racing CEO and Team Principal Robert Lechner it is a very special weekend he is looking forward to: “After our strong performance at the start of the season in Imola with the win of Dylan Pereira we continued to work hard, did a lot of testing and are very well prepared for this demanding event. Motivation is running as high as ever in the team. But we all know it´s special in many different ways. You are not allowed to miss a beat, you have to have a perfect weekend without any incidents to be successful in the end. We will do our best to achieve this – but especially here nothing ever can be taken for granted.”

Apart from taking care of his own team, from Monaco Robert Lechner will also follow the iconic 24-hour race at the Nürburging, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year: “I won there together with Peter Zakowski and my dear friend, ex-F1-driver Pedro Lamy, exactly 20 years ago in a Zakspeed Viper – so I have really fond memories of this event.”
