One more title to claim for BWT Lechner Racing - Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Final in Monza
Great setting for the final weekend of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2022 – and great chances for BWT Lechner Racing to claim a third title in this season: Dylan Pereira goes into the 8th and last race of the year at the famous and traditional 5.793 km long Monza track in the Royal Park with an 18-points lead over defending champion Larry ten Voorde and 20 points ahead of Laurin Heinrich.
After two very successful weekends at Spa and Zandvoort, the latter being the venue to secure both the team championship and the rookie title for Bastian Buus, BWT Lechner Racing will now do everything to support Pereira in his title hunt in the very specific Monza atmosphere in front of the ever so enthusiastic Tifosi. “I know that I have the best and most competent people around and behind me with BWT Lechner Racing”, the 25-year-old from Luxembourg, who already won three races this year, states. “So now it´s up to me to again perform on the highest level to put the title in the bag. It looks quite promising, as P9 in the race on Sunday would be enough – but in racing you can´t take anything for granted, so you have to keep your feet on the ground and stay focused until the very last moment.”
His teammates Bastian Buus and Harry King will also be supportive, but at the same time also trying to finish the season on a personal high for themselves. “Of course I would love to be at least on the podium again after having won the rookie title”, says 19-year-old Buus. British Porsche Carrera Cup Champion King hopes for better fortunes at the final “than at the last two weekends, where I was a bit unlucky. It would be nice to have reason to celebrate again at the end.”
“We had a great season so far claiming the team championship for the 12th time, the 4th time in the five years of our great partnership with BWT, after 2018, 2019 and 2020, and the rookie title with Bastian”, BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal and CEO Robert Lechner is keen to emphasize. “Now we will give everything for one last time this year to make sure to secure our third title with Dylan winning the drivers´ championship. It would be the icing on the cake, it seems to be well within reach – but with the strong competition it will be very tense until the last exit out of Parabolica on Sunday! Nevertheless it is already a good time for me to say thank you to everybody, to BWT, our other partners and contributors and of course to our whole team. Everybody – from the people in the office at our home base to truck drivers, mechanics, engineers and of course our race drivers – worked extremely hard and performed on a very high level over the whole season. It could not have been done without every single one of you. Thank you again – I am very proud of you!”
