Grande Finale at Monza – great title chances for BWT Lechner Racing

BWT Lechner Racing and the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup are set for a great final of the year at a very historic and fascinating location: The traditional 5.793 km long Monza track in the Royal Park with its famous corners like Lesmo, Variante Ascari or Parabolica – even if the latter has been officially renamed to “Curva Alboreto” - provides the stage for the 8th and last race of the 2023 season. BWT Lechner Racing driver Bastian Buus goes into the weekend with an 21-points lead over his closest competitor, while BWT Lechner Racing is leading the team championship by 31 points.

Buus is very much looking forward to the challenge ahead: “It has been a very intense summertime with many back-to-back races, and two races at one weekend in Zandvoort. I have enjoyed it a lot, also being in the position I am. Fighting for a championship is not something you do every year or every day. It´s a very special situation, I am leading with quite a big margin, so for us it´s mainly doing what we have done for the entire year, focusing on delivering our best in both free practice and qualifying, as well is in the race, but with the focus on staying out of unnecessary trouble”, the Danish Porsche Junior has a clear mindset about how to approach his task.

Harry King is very optimistic about the weekend: “We had a very good results in Monza last year with pole position. We know the car is fast and I know it´s one of my strongest circuits so I am looking forward to hopefully bring home a strong result to finish the year.”

Australian rookie Harri Jones is excited to get back in the pink car again: „I can’t believe we are already at the end of the season! I’m really looking forward to Monza, it’s an awesome track and I’m sure it will create some exciting racing. What a great time since I met the team here for the first time exactly one year ago”, the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup champion 2022 is happy looking back on his journey since then: “I learned so much with BWT Lechner Racing in this Supercup season. Lots of work is going on behind the scenes to ensure we hit the ground running in Italy, and of course I will give my best  until the very last corner...“

“The Autodromo Nazionale di Monza is a very special place in motor racing, which traditionally sees the final of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, ” BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal and CEO Robert Lechner says.  “It has been a great season for us, which we now would like to crown with well-deserved titles in the end. But to reach this goal we have to stay focused as always and to approach it as any other race weekend. Which it actually is, as there is the same number of points to grab as usual. But even as  it is good to know that we don´t need the maximum number of points, we still  have to put in our maximum effort again.”
