Action-packed season final for BWT Lechner Racing at Monza

The season final of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2025 at Monza again delivered an action-packed race, as is quite common at the high-speed track in the Royal Park. Both BWT Lechner Racing drivers were in the middle of the tough and very competitive racing over the whole time. Robert de Haan after a very strong performance made it up to P4, while Marvin Klein, who crossed the finish line in P3, unfortunately dropped back to P8 due to a 3-second-penalty for alleged leaving the track and gaining an advantage.

After his rookie title last year, Robert de Haan now claimed the vice-championship overall at the young age of only 19, while BWT Lechner Racing was runner-up in the team championship again.

The race was red-flagged  after a midfield crash on lap 1 with cars stuck in the gravel and a slightly damaged tyre wall. The re-start happened behind the safety-car and Marvin Klein, who had claimed pole position on Saturday with a great lap in the final minute of the session, first kept his lead. Later he got involved in the typical Monza slipstream fights, finishing on P3 on track.  Robert de Haan drove a very strong race from P10 on the grid, making it up to P4 with a lot of impressive and bold overtaking manoeuvres.

Robert Lechner, BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal: "At Monza always a lot can happen as we know very well from the past and saw again today. As long as you come here with a mathematical chance for the title you have to give it all. But in the end the title goes to those who collect the most points over the whole season. This did not work well for us at the beginning with the DNFs at Imola and only half points for Robert for his Monaco victory. But I am very proud of our whole team how they managed these challenges of building up new cars, bouncing back and making it possible to be in the title fight until the last race. A big thank you also to all our partners for their continuous support over the whole season! Congratulations to Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti and CLRT for winning the drivers' and team championships.”

Robert de Haan: “Last race done - we did the maximum we could, we gave everything we had. Being vice-champion is still not bad of course. In the end I wanted to win and bring the championship home for myself and for the team, but I think not much more was possible, so I am still happy with our performance. My personal highlight of the seaoson was of course the victory in Monaco – a very special experience for every driver. Thanks to the whole team for their support!”

Marvin Klein: “Of course I would have wished to finish this unfortunate and not always very easy season on top of the podium after yesterday's pole position, but it was not meant to be. I would like to thank BWT Lechner Racing for the confidence they had in me.”

Michael Schöch, BWT Lechner Racing Team Manager: “A big thank you to everybody in the team for the hard work during the whole season. It´s unbelievable how quickly these eight race weekends passed again. The end of the 2025 season is also the end of the Porsche 992.1 generation. Next year we will be back with new cars, also meaning new and different ways of preparation. We are already looking forward to this challenge.”
