The famous English weather set the stage for qualifying at Silverstone, the third round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2022. Changing conditions with a damp track at the beginning and heavier rain setting in later made things difficult for everybody. For BWT Lechner Racing it was still a promising session with local hero Harry King claiming P3 at the famous circuit, known as the „Home of British motor racing.“ The 21-year old winner of the British Porsche Carrera Cup in 2020 was rather happy, missing out on the front row only for six hundredths of a second: “From there I have a good chance to fight for a podium, which of course would be a dream come true for me at my home race.”
His BWT Lechner Racing teammates Dylan Pereira, currently runner-up in the general classification and Bastian Buus, leader of the rookie championship, finished in P5 and P7 and will do everything to gain as many valuable points as possible in the race on Sunday which should take place in dry conditions according to the forecast.
“We know how strong the competition is in this series, so I think the whole team including the drivers did a really good job under the conditions that only allowed a single really fast lap”, said BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal and CEO Robert Lechner. “We are really looking forward to the race tomorrow, especially with the enthusiastic crowd here it is always something very special.”
“We used the break for an even better preparation for the upcoming tasks”, Robert Lechner, Team Principal and CEO of Lechner Racing, states. “We did some very good testing, so I am confident we will be able to play an important role in the fight for top positions again. I am glad the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is returning to Silverstone again, after a one-year break. Racing in Great Britain is always very special for me, I lived here for three years during my junior formula and GT career, had many great experiences and love the country as well as the special atmosphere at British race tracks.”
