Sometimes racing can be cruel: Having two of your cars kicked out at the start of a race without being at fault at all is not easy to take – but that´s what happened to BWT Lechner Racing at the third round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at Silverstone. Harry King and Bastian Buus, who started from P3 and P4 on the grid became victims of a huge mess, mainly caused by Larry ten Voorde. So Harri Jones, who claimed his best Supercup result so far with P7 overall and P3 in the rookie classification, in the end was the best placed BWT Lechner Racing driver.
Australian rookie Jones managed to stay out of all troubles at the start, established himself in P7 and safely brought the position home. “I am really happy about my best Supercup result so far. Somehow I got through all the chaos without being hit and then I was able to go at the same speed as the people around me. I think I can take this as a good basis for the coming races.”
Harry King was, of course, very disappointed that his home race had already ended after a few hundred meters, “but what shall I say? I was kicked out by ten Voorde, so was out immediately. But I know how strong the whole BWT Lechner Racing team is, so we will bounce back at the next weekends.”
Bastian Buus, trying to avoid the mess in front of him, also became an innocent victim of the chaos: “I was spun around by Schurig, dropped back to the end of the field.” But the Danish Porsche Junior never gave up and made it back into the points on track, overtaking one car after the other: “We really had the speed today, so of course it´s more than annoying what happened at the start. “Buus crossed the finish line in P13, and is still leading the championship, six points ahead of ten Voorde.
