Spa-Francorchamps – often a good track for BWT Lechner Racing

Spa-Francorchamps is always a highlight in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season: The 7.004 km long up- and downhill track in the Belgian Ardennes with its ever so famous corners like Eau Rouge, Raidillon and Blanchimont presents a very special challenge to drivers and teams – often additionally complicated by the weather conditions. After last weekend´s victory in Hungary by Harry King, BWT Lechner Racing comes to the famous venue in a very positive mood, hoping to be able to score another great result before the well-deserved summer break.

Championship leader Bastian Buus is very much looking forward to the weekend. “It’s a cool and challenging track with a lot of different corner types. I’ve always enjoyed racing there. The weather can always play a major role in terms of strategy. So it’s an important weekend”, the Danish Porsche Junior states.  His closest championship rival is now his BWT Lechner Racing teammate Harry King, who after his two wins in Monaco and at the Hungaroring lies only 7 points behind.

“Of course I can take a lot of motivation and self-confidence out of my very successful Hungarian weekend”, the Brit is optimistic for the upcoming task. “Spa is also one of my favorite tracks, quite close to my home – and I was pretty fast there last year. So I hope for another good result and more valuable points for the championship.”

Rookie Harri Jones is “really excited to race at Spa this weekend. It's the first track we go to where I have some prior racing experience. We raced Carrera Cup Germany there earlier this year and I had some great results with a Top 5 finish. It's such an iconic circuit and coming from Australia it stands out as one of the best circuits in the world.” So he is looking to continue “to work my way up the grid after a couple of promising weekends. I can't wait for what's in store!"

BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal and CEO Robert Lechner has great memories about Spa: “We won there the last two years with Dylan Pereira – so it´s a great feeling to come back. Especially as the half-time leader in both the drivers and team championship.  The whole team is in great spirits and highly motivated. But we always have to stay absolutely focused and keep our feet on the ground. We all know how challenging this track can be, especially with the predicted rain over the weekend. So we have to give it all again before everybody can take some well-deserved and necessary rest during the summer break
