Pole Position for Dylan Pereira and BWT Lechner Racing at Spa-Francorchamps

Dylan Pereira again proved his master class at Spa-Francorchamps, claiming pole position for BWT Lechner Racing in the sixth round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2022. Nearly four tenth ahead of his main title rival Laurin Heinrich, the 25-year-old from Luxembourg was very happy with his performance: “It was not easy, as due to the rain yesterday we did not have much data from free practice. And during our test here, track conditions were completely different with 50 degrees asphalt temperature. But I got everything together very well, the first lap was already quite good, so for the second run it was mainly fine tuning – and it worked. But nevertheless we still have to focus on tomorrow, on having a good race pace, and hopefully a good start.”

Bastian Buus was not completely happy with P6, „as I was not able to put my best possible lap together. But I hope I can make up some ground in the race. Of course it would be nice to win the rookie championship already here, but as my main rival is starting just ahead of me, we have to wait and see. But if it doesn´t happen here than it will probably happen next week...”

Harry King was on his way to the very front of the grid, when a collision robbed him of all chances and he was stuck in P8: “I was on my fastest lap, had a purple first sector, was feeling very comfortable in the car – for sure at least a Top 3 position was possible... I don´t want to comment on what happened then, just that you don´t really expect it in such a professional series like the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. The only thing I can say is that I am really looking forward to exploiting our race pace tomorrow and go for full attack.”

BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal and CEO Robert Lechner had slightly mixed feelings about the outcome of the qualifying: “Of course I am 100 percent happy about Dylan´s performance. He did impressive laps on both sets of tyres, confirming not only his great form, but also how much he feels at home at this track. Harry could have been up there with him, he was already very fast here in testing. But he was the victim of a situation where he did not do anything wrong, but sadly there was another driver who did nothing right. I hope tomorrow he as well as Bastian both can still make up some ground and join Dylan in the front.”
