Very special home race weekend for BWT Lechner Racing at Spielberg/Austria
BWT Lechner Racing is coming with a lot of momentum to its home race in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2025 at Spielberg/Austria. Looking back, there is quite a long list of victories since the race came back to the Red Bull Ring in 2014, from Kuba Giermaziak over Sven Müller, Thomas Preining, Julian Andlauer, Jaxon Evans and Dylan Pereira to Bastian Buus in 2023.
Also a victory in Monaco and two podium finishes in Barcelona proved the recent strength and speed of the Austrian squad, which also used the short break since the Spanish race weekend for an extensive test program. Everybody will be extremely motivated at the beautiful and challenging 4.326 km track situated in the Styrian mountains, trying to add some more silverware to the already gained this year in front of their home crowd. The weather forecast predicts a very hot weekend, which will probably add to the challenge for everyone.
BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal and CEO Robert Lechner: “It's always a special highlight when the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup comes to Austria. I have very good memories of our home races, from the very early days until now. In 1997, when F1 after a long break came back to the A1-Ring, as it was called then, I was invited by Porsche to drive their official VIP car in the Porsche Supercup for example. I was part of the whole development of the circuit – from Österreichring to A1-Ring to the current Red Bull Ring. This year we are very well prepared after our recent test days at different circuits. But while this is of course a very good basis for success, it is still by far no guarantee, as we have had to experience at the start of the seasons. We will do everything to show a good performance to all our families, friends, guests and partners here, and the memories of the successes in the past are a strong motivation to extract every bit we can. The most important thing is to score good points with both cars, so we will have to completely focus on the performance and perfect execution of the job when it counts.”
Robert de Haan: “I am really looking forward to driving again at the home track of BWT Lechner Racing. I like the circuit a lot, it is very nice to drive. Also the testing was really good, so I think we are well prepared and can do quite a good job. There are also always a lot of Dutch fans coming to the Red Bull Ring, so it's a bit of a home race for me as well.”
Marvin Klein: „I am looking forward to race now in Austria after our good result in Barcelona. I am super motivated and feeling ready to have a strong weekend here in Spielberg for the home race of the entire BWT/Windhager Lechner Racing team.”
