The final part of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season 2024 will start at Zandvoort: The 4.259 km long circuit in the dunes of the Dutch North Sea coast is very unique due to its banked corners, which present a special challenge for everybody. The weather is usually quite hot here, but can also very quickly turn into wet and windy. This makes it even more difficult for the drivers, as due to the sand blown on the track it becomes extremely slippery very fast.
For BWT Lechner Racing driver Robert de Haan it will be a very special event, as the Dutch driver will race in front of the huge crowd of his fellow countrymen, the Orange Army cheering for Max Verstappen in Formula 1.
While de Haan is still in the fight for the rookie championship, a victory and a third place in the last two races before the summer break put Harry King back in the fight for the overall title again, just seven points behind the current championship leader in P2.
Robert Lechner, Team Principal of BWT Lechner Racing: “Since 2021, which was also the beginning of the 992 era, we are racing the traditional Zandvoort track with its great atmosphere and the huge amount of fans turning up every year. I always enjoyed it very much and have especially good memories of 2022, when we could celebrate the team championship here with still one race to go. This year is also very special to us, as with Robert de Haan we have a young and very promising Dutch driver in our line-up. I am sure he will not only be very motivated, but also very fast in his home race.”
Harry King: “Heading now in the final part of the season with a real chance for the overall title these last two races starting at Zandvoort are very important. This circuit is of course favoured by the Dutch drivers, but we also had good results here in the past and the testing we did was really good, we had a strong learning curve, so I am really excited for the upcoming weekend.”
Robert de Haan: “I am really looking forward to my home race. Driving the pink car in front of my huge Dutch home crowd is really cool. I hope we can also get a good result, a podium finish. In all the other races I did this year on this track, in other series, I was at least very fast...”
Theo Oeverhaus: “I am looking forward to being back on track with BWT Lechner Racing again after the summer break and hope for a good result.”
