#PMSC - ZANDVOORT PREVIEW

Good title chances for BWT Lechner Racing at Zandvoort

After the race is before the race: After BWT Lecher Racing driver  Dylan Pereira claimed a dominant victory with a nearly 7 seconds advantage over title defender Larry ten Voorde at the historic track of Spa-Francorchamps, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup now immediately moves to Zandvoort for its seventh and penultimate round of the 2022 season. The 4.259  km long track in the dunes of the Dutch North Sea coast is very unique due to its banked corners, which present a special challenge for all the drivers.

With a current lead of 12 points over Laurin Heinrich and 15 over ten Voorde, Pereira of course has an eye on winning the championship for the first time in his career, but the 25-year-old from Luxembourg is still cautious, trying to not let expectations run too high despite his current great form: “We all know how strong the competition is, how quickly something can go wrong. So I just have to do my own thing, deliver the same performance like in the last few weeks – and then it will hopefully work out.”

Bastian Buus claimed his sixth rookie win in a row at Spa, the 19-year-old Dane equalizing the record of former Porsche works driver and 24 hours of Le Mans winner Nick Tandy. “Of course it would be great to continue this winning streak and at the same time claim the rookie title – which was my big goal in my first Supercup season from the very beginning. I am very grateful to BWT Lechner Racing that they gave me this chance and supported me incredibly well on my way so far.”

British Porsche Carrera Cup Champion Harry King wants to put the unlucky Spa weekend, which saw him as the victim of a collision in qualifying, behind him: “In the race there, I was able to show our great speed again. So hopefully this time I will be able to fight at the top from the very beginning.”

BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal and CEO Robert Lechner hopes for another great event for the team: “We successfully completed the first weekend of the final triple-header of the season but that doesn´t mean we can rest on our laurels. We have to keep our feet on the ground, stay focused and continue our hard work. I am really looking forward to the weekend, chances are good that we will be able to already celebrate the rookie title for Bastian, who is by far the best newcomer in 2022, and the team championship on Sunday, before the final race of the season in Monza. The team title is very important for us, as it reflects the performance of the whole team over the whole year – something I am very proud of. But it´s the home race for GP Elite and two times Supercup champion Larry ten Voorde, so for sure they will be very strong here in front of at least 100 000 Dutch Max Verstappen fans.”
