#PMSC - ZANDVOORT PREVIEW

|   PMSC
Very important weekend for BWT Lechner Racing at Zandvoort

A very special weekend lies ahead for  BWT Lecher Racing and the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup after the summer break: Due to the cancellation of the Imola GP at the beginning of the season, there will be two races at one weekend now at Zandvoort, with just one qualifying on Saturday for both Saturday´s and Sundays race. The 4.259  km long track in the dunes of the Dutch North Sea coast is very unique due to its banked corners, which present a special challenge for everybody. BWT Lechner Racing comes to the penultimate race weekend of the season in a very strong position, with a one-two lead in the drivers championship, on top of the team championship and still a very good chance in the title hunt in the rookie classification.

Current championship leader Bastian Buus wants to further further strengthen his position in the fight for the title: “Of course it´s probably the most important weekend of the year as we have only one qualifying for two races. That means if you do well there, you are in a good position for two races, if not, it´s bad for both...   It´s the last part of the championship now, basically everything can be done after the weekend. It´s important to keep the same mindset and focus on one thing after the other. The qualifying format should be good for us, as it´s the same as how it´s done in the  Carrera Cup system, so we drivers are used to it. Zandvoort is one of my favourite tracks, where I always perform well, the track suits me, so I am really looking forward to get back in the pink car again.”

Harry King, second in the championship, is ready for the challenge ahead: “It´s of course a unique experience to have two races on one weekend in Supercup. That means there are a lot of points to grab, but the importance of the one qualifying will also put a lot of pressure on the drivers to do a good performance there. The circuit is of course the home track for the Dutch drivers, they have a lot of experience there, but ultimately it has always been a very nice atmosphere around the track with a lot of Orange Army around for Verstappen, but the more crowds in the grandstands, the better the feeling.”

Australian Rookie Harri Jones is also looking forward to the event: “We have a really important weekend coming up at Zandvoort. We are nearing the end of the championship and as a team it will be important to deliver good results this weekend to hunt down the rookie title. I’m really excited, Zandvoort is an awesome circuit and with two races it’ll be double the fun.”

BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal and CEO Robert Lechner hopes for another strong weekend for the team: “With not just one, but two races it will probably be the most important event of the year. I personally have great memories of Zandvoort, I already drove and won here in junior formulas in the 1990s. With the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, we are back here for the third time now - ever since F1 is back. The atmosphere is always great in what you definitely can call Max Verstappen land, with at least 100 000 enthusiastic Dutch fans. Saturday will see qualifying and race number one, so it will be the most important day. The qualifying will be of double importance in the true sense of the words:  Determining your chances for two races and also because it is so difficult to overtake on this narrow track, so a good grid position is essential. But we are very well prepared and completely focused to perform on top level again to continue fighting for all three titles.”
